If thats even a valid question, I was listening to Destiny's Child " Second Nature" off of their first album "Destiny's Child" and I was just thinking "Wow, Beyonce sounds very young but yet the song carries so much soul and embodies so much passion and heavily felt love throughout the entire song." So I was wondering, since my mother likes to consider me "ecclectic", what do YOU listen to when you listen to music? Like when you hear your favorite song, what do you think while its being played? What makes you like it so much?

I really like songs when you feel just how much the singer's into the the music and I dunno it just moves me.

Yeah. Isn't it weird and kind of hard to explain? I was listening to that song (I've heard it so many times) and, I dunno, it just makes you feel really good.

I love songs that have good singers and lyrics that are well written

When i'm alone or if it's quiet, I use headphones (because i think you can hear more details in the song that way) and just listen. I ponder the lyrics, and figure out their meaning, sometimes if you listen real hard you can hear subtle things you haven't noticed previous times. Like a soft breath the singer takes, or quiet drums barely audible in the background. What i love to do though, is listen to a song and make up a visual in my head, like making up my own music video. Maybe I'm not normal, but i love doing this. Listening to a song can actually be something deeper. I mean in a sense it is, considering all the work and emotion put into a single song.

I always love a good background beat, and liek songs were the melody and bass match the singer's voice, lol if that makes sense! I've always found that you don't hear the passion or feel of a song in a CD, compared to when you hear it live.

For me, it depends on the genre of music I am listening to. If its something like rap, maybe just the beat, how much I can dance to it. If its a slower song like some pop and R&B, then I do listen to the lyrics and what the songs definition means, meaning, what it is summarized. But overall I listen for the track, lyrics, and the hook.

This depends when it comes to dance music I listen to the beat and tempo of the song. And when I listen to mellow songs I usually listen to the lyrics.

No your normal because I have alot of "mental videos" up there in the big think tank of mine. I think that you dont get the song personally if you dont visualize it. Or at least set it to the tone of your life... kind of like a soundtrack. Like when you hear it, it reminds you of something or someplace. That's what I think should happen when you really feel a song.
