BITCH Yep... I like to push the envelope a bit. Today's discussion/debate will be focused on the word "BITCH". The reason I ask is because I recently got a bit upset because someone left a rather nasty comment on my myspace page. I wasn't bothered about being called a bitch (I've been called worse), but more so, someone posted this on a widget installed on my profile and posted it as "anonymous". So not only do I not have the freedom to point that person out and let them have it, but I dont know if it was someone from my friends list or not. But more importantly, Im thinking that I was rather lenient with the entire situation considering SOMEONE CALLED ME A BITCH!! ... Or at least tried to because they spelled it wrong ("bicth") LOL! But thats not the case, the case is if this happened to you, how would have reacted to it? What are your overall views on the word "Bitch"? LET THE DEBATE BEGIN...

If I were to be called a bitch by someone, it would depend on the person. If it was a close friend and they were joking around. I would joke around to. If it was a close friend and they were serious. I would have a definite reaction. I know that people can get mad and heated and say things they don't mean, but there is a fine line, with how far insulting, and offending someone can go, bitch goes a little too far for me. I would probably get really offended if a close guy who wasn't joking around called me a bitch, just because sometimes I don't feel like a male has the right (not as in freedom rights) to call someone a bitch. When us females have it harder than them. If it was someone I didn't know or someone I knew but didn't know anything about. I would careless. I would have the nonchalant attitude like, you don't know me, to judge, or insult me, and move on. It only makes them look stupid in the end, and ignorance should not be spoken upon because it is a waste of time. Worry about something else.
Bitch is a word, for some people it has a deep meaning and history to other's it's just a word, I have seen alot of people collide on that. For those who don't understand, you can't fuss at someone who doesn't know what they are talking about, half of the time, they are repeating what someone else has said. But overall. I could careless if someone called me a bitch, but if it was somone close I would be offended.
Also as for you, internet fighting all the keyboarding talking, throw it out the window, don't take it so personally, just know that they have nothing better else to do.

I personally hate the word. I hate it when it's used as and insult and when it's used in jest. It's a discusting word and it's rude and disrespectful to me. I have been called it before, but i haven't ever called anyone that before. To me it's just pointless. Flinging insults for no reason. If someone calls you that, then just forget them and move on. THey aren't worth your time.

You know what I think about the word Bitch...?
I think that if it were 40-50 years ago, that word would certainly hold an offensive tone. BY EVERYONE. Simply because over the years, society has become more and more desensitized and more and more offenses are being excused as being "funny" or a "joke". More and more people are wanting people to "get over it" but what do you do when that person is you? So I dont know. Like I said, Im not that mad at the fact that they called me a bitch. I was just annoyed. I could care less if someone called me a bitch... just because someone calls you something doesn't meam you actually are. So Im not mad because of that. I was just ticked off because they posted as anonymous and I couldn't defend myself to that person. But whatever, Im fly and thats all that matters to me. LOL
Personally, Im not sure how I feel about the word. I've heard in it every context possible since a kid. So I dont know. And I feel a bit irresponsible because Im 22 and dont know HOW I should feel about it. Its something that just goes over my head.

If someone called me a bitch and I didn't know why they did, then I would ask them what the reason for them calling me a bitch was...

Girl... some people will just do things just because. No explanation. And quite frankly I (personally) could care less, simply because if I know that Im not, that one person calling me a bitch shouldn't dictate or suggest to I am. If anyone knows me, its me. I just like to have that defense if someone does call me something out of my character. So that way, I can have a reason to feel the way I do about them. The last thing I'd want to be friendly with someone who smiles in my face but in reality they feel contrary. Thats fake & I cant stand fake people.

I agree with you, some people do stupid ignorant things just because it amuses them, or they get some kind of excitement over it. I think it is a fetish for some people. They just have to do it, no matter what the consequences or how it could make someone feel, they just don't care, they do it anyways. I don't think it makes it right, but I think it is a slight explanation for why people do it. Or at least one reason, I am sure there are several.
