What do you all think? Does being religious make you happy? They say that cleanliness is next to godliness, but does godliness determine happiness? Could be! A recent survey by the Associated Press and MTV, which polled people aged 13 to 24, found that people who describe themselves as spiritual or religious tend to be happier than those who don't. Out of all the people polled, 44 percent said religion is very important to them, 21 percent said it's somewhat important, and 20 percent said it's a little important, while only 14 percent said faith does not factor into their lives at all. What's more is that 80 percent of those who consider spirituality to be the most important thing in their lives say they're happy, while 60 percent of the non-religious respondents say they're happy. But it's not all cut-and-dry: while about 75 percent of those surveyed said that their higher power impacts their happiness, nearly 90 percent say their contentment is at least somewhat under their control.

I'm a christian and my faith is extremely important to me.
But as for your poll question: Will going to chruch make you a better person? Going to church is not an accurate count of your religion and dedication to God. Now don't get me wrong, chruch is important, but that alone will not make you a better person. You have to study God's word, pray, and understand that you need God. Following His word and having fellowship with Him will make you a better person. Many people go to chruch every sunday purely for outward appearences. And that is wrong, and that is where you get into problems. People who honestly don't care about religion, they just go out of obligation. It shouldnt' be like that. You should want to worship the Lord, you should want to fellowship with other believers.
Does being religious make you happy? Religion dosen't make you happy. God makes you happy. Knowing Christ as your personal savior makes you happy. God promises to be with us through everything, he blesses us in our lives daily, and that is why people who truly love God are happier. Because God has blessed them by being in their lives.
Godliness is next to happiness. Like I said before, God will change you life. He is your friend that never leaves, never betrays, and always forgives. You can't ask for anythign more.
The Lord will bless you if you love HIm, and accpet Him. You life will never be the same. Life will still be hard, but you have a friend to help you get through it. And that alone envokes happiness.

Well I am a Christian, Catholic, and Buddhist, so many people say how can you be all three. I am a very open minded person, and I am open minded with religion, I believe in the bible, as for Christianity, Catholicism, and Buddhism.
Does being religious make me happy?Well my religion and I has impacted who I am as a person, but not fully. I do believe that in believing in something higher than anything on earth can put a set to a person. I believe that a little mystery about things and other things can be worth it in the long run. I am not religious just because I was brought up knowing to believe in God, but I believe in it because I choose to do so. I want to believe in a higher power and answer to it as well, it is the only thing that truly gives me my fate. I know alot of people would and would not see it this way but this is what sets apart all human beings from another. It allows people to be one with themselves, and also can help people understand and figure out who they are as people. I am not overly religious, but I have something that I put my belief in.
Is my religion important to me?Yes my religion is important to me.
Does Going to church make me happier? Well I believe for some it can, for me no. Church is not really my thing. I worship and pray when and where I choose to. I think for me, my beliefs are enough. I don't need to go to a place to feed me how to believe and what to believe. I can do that on my own, but I only speak for myself.

Im not too sure about Buddism... but Im sure its the same. Im not into critisizing or judging because I can't, its not my place, that's not what Im doing. I hope you dont take it that way. It's just Im mainly confused on how you could possibly be all three when clearly each state that you should only honor that one completely.

as far as religion goes, I really don't like or understand organized religion. It isn't for me. I know plenty of religious people that I'm friends with. It's not my thing though. I feel like religion puts me into a box and tells me what I can and can't do. I don't like being told what to do by anyone so it sort of rubs me the wrong way. I also don't believe in anything without some form of proof. So no religion will ever work for me because no god is ever going to come down and go "Haley this is the true religion." I believe in something, I just don't know what, it's sort of like a mix of a bunch of religions, I feel like if I'm going to be spiritual I don't need to go and sit with 50-100 other people on a selected day of the week to do so. I can do it on my own and get the same result.

well I don't really know as I'm a kabbalah follower but lots of my christian friends say it will help you cause you learn more when you are in church and it's very holy. I myself go to a kabbalah center and I feel like I learn so much more there and I interact with people that share my religion . It's wonderful to me.
Does being religious make you happy?
yes it does. I think everyone should believe in something. Trust in something.
