DEBATESo I was chatting with my some of my co- workers last week and we were talking about Halloween and how this year one of the ladys at my job was going as Lady Gaga... I made the suggestion that this year (like last) she'd be competing against A LOT of Gaga's! (My other hot costume this year, I suggested would probably be Nicki Minaj & Barbie as well as some other noteworthy pop culture references) When all of a sudden, one of my co- workers (A GUY) suggests that the only reason CERTAIN women get really out of control with their costumes is because its the only time of the year they can have an excuse to walk out of their house looking "SLUTTY" and showing off their "INNER SLUT"!! So my question to you is... Do you agree? For those who are more conservative, does Halloween give them an excuse to showcase their inner promiscuity by dressing provocatively? Or is that one opinion of a GUY who might as well know NOTHING?! Me: I feel like he had a point. However, I feel like if you are more conservatively dressed, then whether you participate in Halloween or not, your actions will also follow that suit. However, this is just my opinion based off of my views.

Wow! Well, let me first off start by saying that I wish I could have been there for that conversation. Super interesting! Anyways...I think a lot of what people have and/or are going to have something to say about Halloween comes from their personal opinion. Who is to say that Halloween should be celebrated (if that’s the word) a certain way? I mean, I know a lot of people who celebrate holidays in different forms and/or ways. Including days people choose to make a celebration out of, (i.e. memorial day, labor day, Halloween, valentine’s day, St. Patrick’s day, and so forth.) Main point, no one celebrates any day the same.
Halloween as I know it to myself consists of the imagination, costumes, scary make-up, and candy. Over the years I have seen Halloween emerge into more of a drama fest of “let me make a mess of myself”. Halloween should be termed “look a hot mess” rather than “Halloween”, if you ask me. I don’t truly think it has anything to do with being “slutty” or anything like that. Reason being, what are you going to say about people who go out on Valentine’s day dressing “provocatively”? Or super short St. Patrick’s day “get-ups”? As far as I see it, a day for imagination, fun, making fun of people, looking crazy, ridiculous..whatever someone wants to call it. But, by all means I think Halloween is super far from being labeled “slutty” and seemingly just that in so many words.

I guess what he was basically saying is, there are women who will shun walking down a street dressed like a Playmate, but allow Halloween to be the exception. And in theory, I get that train of thought. But I just feel like he instantly classified every woman who is more conservative when it comes to dressing up, a "closet freak" in terms of Halloween (one freakin day of the year). Like every chick who considers the attire of a Victoria Secret model "skimpy", "slutty" or "unlady like"- a closet freak. That CANNOT be the case for every single woman who thinks that way. I think because he's a guy and he thinks like a "guy", he AUTOMATICALLY feels that this is FACT because he feels HE KNOWS EVERY WOMAN!! (Yes, I AM MAN BASHING!!!!) The reality of that is, perhaps there are some females who feel that way... HOWEVER, you cannot treat women who frown upon a CLOTHING PREFERENCE as a WHORE (basically)!!!
To me, his logic was screwed up from the beginning. lol My opinion is, you would have had to be a whore from the start. There is no "Well, Im gonna dress like a whore today only because its Halloween and its ok since its Halloween!" LMFAO

LMAO! That's a good point, a really go point. Your so right, you would have had to been a "Whore" way before...but I get what your saying. Homesboy just wasn't usually very much of his brains when he was saying what he had to say. I mean its his opinion, it should be respected...but...in the matter of trying to act like your proving a fact that indeed is not a fact, needs to be bashed. So right on for man bashing! What would he have to say about dudes who put on dresses during halloween or dressed like a man slut, would he say that same thing? Same he way gay, or what? I think dude is putting much emphasis, to something...that...well, really isn't that seriously.
Like I always say, "Let people do what they want, they're going to do it anyways. It's useless trying to control a stubborn cat."

Lol wow I agree with everything you to are saying but it all depends on the person. I think that if a female wants to dress slutty or not for Haloween that's them. Let them do what they want. But you have a point when you say that if they are conservative people and they decided to dress like a "slut" then you have to have had those secret whore thoughts in your mind somewhere from the start because you're kind of contradicting you're character as a person. Just because it's Halloween, does that give you a reason to be a "slut"? I know Halloween is a great holiday for dressing stupid and not worrying about what people say because everybody's doing it but I don't think it's necessary to look like you're ready to get picked up on the corner. Personally, I would wear a mask and a sweat suit for Halloween because all I really want is the candy and to party (just a little bit) but like I said before it's there money and people are always going to do what they want to do, so if they want to dress like a slut then that's them. It just all depends on the type of female and how she views herself.

Like, he was very "I Know all of you preppy & conservative girls are sluts. Watch on Halloween! You're all gonna be dressed like Lady Gaga and Kesha and be naked!!" And I was like "I BEG YOUR PARDON BUDDY!!?!?!!" lol As a female, I was highly offended that he would come out of his face and claim such a thing. The thing that made it worse was that there were other females, without really thinking or hearing what he was really trying to say, were in AGREEMENT and going along with it. But then again, they probably were agreeing because they were probably the few females who were actually GUILTY.
