Attention ladies who have suffered blisters, cramped feet. bunions, and empty wallets all in the name of impressing men with your array of sexy heels:
According to the Telegraph UK, a new study concludes that men can't decipher between a woman wearing flats or sky-high stilettos.
The study out of Northumbria University looked at the reactions of males watching women ages 18 to 35 walking in high heels and flats.
And while one would think the guys would notice the subtle lift on the calf muscle and change in overall posture and strut that comes with sporting a heel, they didn't.
"Women are spending money on high heels, which can be dangerous, presumably to make themselves look good and add to what nature has given them," Dr. Nick Neave, one of the researchers behind the study, told the Telegraph.
However, are all women really wearing heels just to get a reaction out of men? Many would argue that heels make them feel more polished and leaner, while giving shorter women a much needed boost, all adding up to a quiet inner confidence that has little to do with sex appeal.
And, just like a myriad of trends that women definitely don't indulge in to impress men -- oversize sack dresses, jumpers, Marc Jacobs's frumpy-chic designs -- we highly doubt that rocking the latest wooden wedge by Stella McCartney has anything to do with men at all. It's all about looking current and, of course, eliciting a twinge of envy from one's fellow females.
