You know what sometimes I think the V-card is way to overrated and then sometimes I think the complete opposite. But to me I think its all up to the person and what they think about themselves and how they feel losing their v-card should happen and/or how they want it to happen. But, for the emphasis to always be put on someone in a lot of ways do this don't do that. I think its a personal matter and that it shouldn't be broadcasted as much as it is, but hey anything goes in this world. People don't care anymore.

But, for the emphasis to always be put on someone in a lot of ways do this don't do that. I think its a personal matter and that it shouldn't be broadcasted as much as it is, but hey anything goes in this world. People don't care anymore. You make a valid point about people not caring anymore. That's why its so easy for TV shows like "Gossip Girl" to insinuate sexual acts like a Threesome or music artists to gyrate simulate sex on stage at concerts (IE Pretty Ricky, Usher [circa 98], Adam Lambert) Although sex is a major component of our culture, its not ALL that its about. But for some reason it seems that way. And so when you have people who CHOOSE NOT to have sex, its such a big thing deal. It's like "How is it that YOU are a virgin in a day and age of 'Sex and The City'? What is wrong with you? Even Serena and Blair lost their virginity before YOU!!" <-- *chuckle* It's sad but its true. There's no innocence anymore. Virginity doesn't seem to be sacred as it once was. There's nothing to lose for these young people. Hence why AIDS is one of the top killers amongst YOUNG people, I mean between 2001-2004, 17,824 people between the ages of 13-24 were tested, 38% of the FEMALES tested were POSITIVE for the virus!! Imagine what that number would look like NOW!!! This is a serious problem that I think we should really look deeper into, discuss amongst each of us (ladies), educate and really try in a concerted effort in reversing.

Another way of looking at it would be: People are coming to terms with the fact that virginity does not matter. I mean, really. The only reason virginity is "important" is because it is a bit of the social construct that was put in place long before women were allowed to be independent. Think about it. If virginity was seen as taboo from the dawn of time, we would come out of the womb and our virginity would be done away with. (Sorry about the disgusting image there.) Times are changing, and people are changing. Why look at it in such a negative light?
