After one of the most arid summer television seasons in recent memory, we're looking forward to the start of fall more than ever. And while there are over 20 new shows rolling out this year, we're just as excited about our favorite established series returning. Here's what we can't wait to watch again:
"Dollhouse" (Returns September 7)
The first season was rocky, but we were so impressed by the unaired 13th episode on DVD that we have renewed faith in Joss Whedon's vision.
"Sons of Anarchy" (Returns September 8)
This season Adam Arkin and the perfectly cast Henry Rollins roll into Charming as the perfect foils for our biker antiheroes.
"Supernatural" (Returns September 10)
Both Ruby and Lilith are finally dead, so we get to have an entire season (and possibly two!) without either of them, which is just a beautiful thing.
"Gossip Girl" (Returns September 14)
Blair's rooming with Georgina at NYU, and there's no way both of them are going to emerge from that situation alive.
"Fringe" (Returns September 17)
In the May finale, we learned that there's an alternate universe and it's got Spock, the real Peter's birth certificate, and a still-standing World Trade Center. Can't wait to see what's next.
"The Office" (Returns September 17)
Michael's back in charge, Pam's been promoted to sales, and Jim and Pam are having a baby. Now let's just get poor Andy somebody to love.
"Curb Your Enthusiasm" (Returns September 20)
After a two-year absence, "Curb" is back for a seventh season with the cast of "Seinfeld" reuniting for several episodes.
"The Big Bang Theory" (Returns September 21)
Once the boys get back from being even more socially alienated than usual at the North Pole, Leonard and Penny are finally going to have sex. And it's apparently going to be terrible!
"Castle" (Returns September 21)
It's hard for new shows to survive on ABC these days, but "Castle" managed to do it through sheer force of adorable, quirky, Fillion-dimpled crime-solving.
"House" (Returns September 21)
House will be residing in the loony bin for a good chunk of the season, which should be interesting, and Chase and Cameron are (finally!) returning to the team.
"How I Met Your Mother" (Returns September 21)
Last season ended with some long-awaited traction on the mother front with Ted accepting a teaching job where his future wife is in the class. Her identity remains a mystery, but it was nice to feel like we're finally getting somewhere with these ladies, and hopefully it will make for a satisfying season.
"Southland" (Returns September 25)
This was one of the most sophisticated police dramas to come to network TV in a long while, so we're happy to see it back but hope it doesn't wimp out and go standard procedural on us.
"Dexter" (Returns September 27)
Guest villain John Lithgow seems genuinely scary, the awesome FBI Agent Lundy is coming back to assist in nabbing him, and Deb's a big bad detective now, all of which should balance out the annoying Rita-and-the-kids scenes.
"30 Rock" (Returns October 15)
The stunt-casting that plagued last season seems to be over for the time being, so it looks like we can finally enjoy a season focused on the "TGS" staffers instead of Jennifer Aniston or Salma Hayek.
Ok, I watch Gossip Girl (yes I watch GG, so what?) almost religiously and Im wondering if according to that little "spoiler", if Georgina is gonna be killed off!?! Hmm... *thinking*
