Sounds great to me. I just hope that it doesn't interfere with the overall interfacing. I've designed my layout from scratch and do not wish to have it looking like rubbish because they've added more ads or stupid stuff to it. Ads are another thing that I'm sort of weary about. I hope they're not like pop ups or anything. That would really suck!
he social-networking giant, MySpace.com, will unveil a massive redesign of its website and tech functions next week to increase ads.
According to Variety, News Corp. is stepping up its efforts to wring more ad coin out of MySpace. The first top-to-bottom upgrade since the site launch in January 2004, the redesign will include updates to its navigation, user-profile editing and search applications as well as an enhanced MySpaceTV vid player. Amid stiffer competition from Facebook, Bebo and other social-networks, the redesign is aimed at keeping MySpace hip on the tech side, while increasing advertising opportunities throughout the site and on the MySpaceTV player.
The extreme makeover, will be unveiled Wednesday (June 18), with the rest of the redesign and new elements set to launch on Thursday. On Wednesday, the homepage that will show the increased amount of advertising that the portal to the rest of MySpace will begin to support, dubbed by MySpace as the "take over."
The new-model has been in the works for more than six months. Guided by focus groups, user surveys and a host of other research on what consumers and advertisers want from the site, the goal is to make MySpace's tools for navigation, search and profile editing more intuitive and user-friendly for non-techies. The overhauled MySpace TV player will include features that will make it simple for members to embed and share videos. The player's expanded functions allow users to recommend videos to like-minded members and to highlight the most-viewed videos throughout the site.
MySpace ranks in the top five most trafficked websites in the U.S. According to comScore, the site attracted about 73 million unique visitors a month this year alone.
