So its about that time for you to go out into the real world and make a living. I mean hey, a girls gotta eat, right? So here are a few things to keep in mind when you're on that interview:
1. Always look the part.
No matter what field you are entering in, you should always look the part. Meaning, dress for success... they way that they would! For instance, I have a degree in Fashion Merchandising, so when I go on an interview I always wear something that says I am responsible, conservative, in- tune with fashion and I am absolutely serious about what I am doing.
You never want to give perspective employers and impression that you aren't at all serious or that this is just another pay check to you. To them, this attitude gives off the vibe that you don't care. Besides, this is America people appearance is everything! As sad as it is, that's the countries little dirty truth but you've got to play the game to win & there's no reason why you shouldn't, is there?
2. Know your stuff.
No matter where you apply for, it's rather nice when a prospect knows a little about the company's background. And no, I'm not talking about any hearsay or public company scandals, hard core facts! (No allegations)
This is key because they may (most likely will) ask you "How much do you know about our company?" or "What influenced you or appealed to you about this job?". You'd never want to answer saying "I don't know" or just not saying anything because that clearly says to the interviewer I really don't have time to research or I don't shop at your store so I'm just here for a check/ experience. It's always great to be prepared. Mock interview with a friend or a relative. Let them tell you what you're doing wrong or where you need improvement at.
