Ok this is very funny because I know this girl. Thats my friend Shirley from high school! WOW talk about it being a small world! I'd like to comment but I want to see what everyone else has to say in regards to what Ms Shirley had to say because she definately brought some valid points to head about why you should support people when injustice is done. I think its important that everyone becomes educated on the history of this country, the history of african americans' role in this country as well as the world & taking that into consideration why its so imperitive that we get the facts straight first about what has happened & whats NOT happening in this situation.
Im going to send her an email and ask her to speak here about some of the things in The Jena 6 case... I just found out about this, so although Im just hearing about it, I still would like to know as much as I can so that I can never be ignorant to whats going on in my community and abroad. Plus, its always great to have a better perspective and understanding for something that is effecting EVERYONE GLOBALLY.

Jim Crow all over again... This is seriously sad because its 2007 (yeah I know that this sounds really old) this is supposed to be done and over with. We did this already... why are we doing this again? Why is there a digression in alleged "progress" in this country if we're seeing the same things being done that had already been in the 20's-60's? Why is there an exception to behavior like this? Why did it have to take something like this for EVERYONE to become aware that racism is alive and well in this world (apparently)? No matter how long ago African Americans were surpressed, things will just never change because as long as there is ignorance there will be days like this!
I just want to know how we as AMERICANS didnt see this coming...

Well theres the forces of love and the forces of hate... good & evil, so as long as those things are able to govern the mind, body and emotional being, there will be things like this.

WOW they showed this clip on CNN last night! LOL She's so excited!
But I just hope that people get the message... its 2007 (almost 2008) wrong is wrong but racism & civil injustice is worse. The acts should never be forgotten and never diminished based upon personal opinion. Let the facts and the facts of history, show why its not acceptable in america in 2007!

Well they had a documentary about Jena, LA and the 6 teens arrested (BTW, in events that had no connection to the noose incident BEFORE the fight). They just showed her clip along with a couple of other "FREE THE JENA 6"-ers from YouTube on CNN as a way to show the national outrage & solidarity of the matter. Then they showed the protesters and residents (who by the way, are much older than the individuals who were arrested. These people are in their 60's and older) who some feel like the situation was blown out of proportion and didn't want any part in what was happening in Jena and the way the town had been portrayed. I have to honest though... I did some research and I see that some of the "facts" that occured in Jena weren't so... or at least according to my sources-sources, the story thats being told is untrue. Like for instance, There weren't 3 nooses hung in the tree, but only 2! And the reason they were taken down was merely because the kids, black and white, were sticking their heads through it, swinging on them & playing with them in general. Also, did you know that the so callled "white tree" was ALLEGEDLY, occupied by blacks & whites together at one point or the other. Now what doesn't make sense to me is this, why would you just take down 2 nooses hung in a tree only because the kids were playing with them? Did it not offend anyone who saw those nooses there enough to want to take them down because of the ugly representation that they stood for? And if this tree is so called considered a "White Tree", then why once some black kids sat under it, those nooses showed up? Why did it take a student to ask the principal if he could sit under the "White Tree"? See these things dont comply with the original story... I will attest to the fact that, if you do go on the internet and search "the jena 6" you will find conflicting stories of the events that led to these arrests. So it is hard to tell whether or not the source of your story is valid or not. But theres no denying that there is a problem with the situation at hand.
